![]() ![]() Will be interesting to see how the concept ages. Some initial kinks to work out with timing, service, etc. Very hip spot, attracting big crowds-and probably worth a visit. I think we all WOULD return, whether we'll PLAN to is a different question. With such a limited menu, we all wondered how excited we would be return, knowing we'd eat something very similar next time. However, at the meal's conclusion, we all agreed that all three tasted basically the same-while that taste was good, we were somewhat surprised at the lack of distinct flavors. They were all good-very savory flavors, fun to share, cool texture. For the main event-okonomiyaki, which are savory cabbage pancakes served on a griddle-we ordered three pancakes, one of each kind (traditional, hiroshima style, and negiyaki). ![]() Veggie karkoke were just fine, aided by a delicious sauce. An octopus dish was not good-the octopus was so rubbery as to barely be edible. The garlic was great, rich and deep in flavor. Perhaps these are still kinks being worked out from being relatively new, but the odd pacing of the meal and variable service were noticeable. We flagged down one waitperson who dismissed our question about whether the remaining food was, indeed, coming a second waitperson showed more concern about the unusual delay. And then things just kind of melted down-there was a near 30-minute gap between courses and our server just kind of disappeared. And the first couple of things came quickly. Our server did a great job explaining the concept and how to approach ordering. Our service experience during the meal itself started strong and then declined. We waited 25 minutes or so beyond our reservation time-a long time, but the gesture was appreciated and we just enjoyed each other's company. Our table was not ready at the time of reservation the restaurant handled this beautifully by offering us a cocktail on-the-house at the bar. We dined here on a very busy Monday night during the holiday season. ![]()
